How to build a balanced team in 60 seconds

  1. Pick your game above so only legal Pokémon, moves and the right type chart are used.
  2. Add your must-have Pokémon. Tap a slot, type a few letters (English, 中文, 日本語, Français, Deutsch, Español or 한국어 all work) and press Enter.
  3. Read the red rows in the Weaknesses tab — a type is a problem when three or more Pokémon are weak to it and nothing resists it.
  4. Use Smart picks. The suggestions under your team are ranked by how much they reduce shared weaknesses and fill coverage gaps, weighted by how often they are used in real battles.

How do I check what my Pokémon team is weak to?

Add your six Pokémon to the builder above. The weakness table lists all 18 attacking types with how many of your Pokémon take 4×, 2×, ½×, ¼× or 0× damage from each. A type is flagged when three or more members are weak to it and at most one resists it.

What counts as a bad team weakness?

A shared weakness: several Pokémon weak to the same type with nothing that resists it. One Pokémon with a 4× weakness is usually fine; three Pokémon weak to Ground with no Flying type, Levitate user or Ground resist is a problem, because one Earthquake threatens half your team.

Does the weakness checker count abilities?

Yes. Levitate (Ground immunity), Flash Fire, Water Absorb, Volt Absorb, Storm Drain, Lightning Rod, Sap Sipper, Motor Drive, Dry Skin, Thick Fat, Heatproof, Purifying Salt, Filter, Solid Rock, Prism Armor and Wonder Guard all change the table. Pick the ability on each Pokémon to apply it.

How do I fix my team's weaknesses?

Look at the Smart picks under your team — they are ranked by how many of your flagged types they resist or are immune to. You can also swap the member that adds the most new weaknesses. The type coverage section shows the attacking side: which types your moves can and can't hit super effectively.

How does the team builder calculate weaknesses?

For each of the 18 attacking types it multiplies the type-chart values against every Pokémon's typing, then applies abilities that change incoming damage — Levitate, Flash Fire, Water Absorb, Volt Absorb, Storm Drain, Sap Sipper, Thick Fat, Heatproof, Purifying Salt, Filter and more. A type is flagged red when three or more of your Pokémon are weak to it and at most one resists it.

Can I import and export Pokémon Showdown teams?

Yes. Paste any Showdown or PokéPaste text into Import and the builder keeps nicknames, items, abilities, Tera Types, EVs, IVs, natures, levels and moves. Export gives you text you can paste straight back into Showdown's Teambuilder.
